At Associations North, we want everyone to be able to participate, attend and grow from professional development opportunities. We are proud to offer the following scholarships.
professional improvement scholarship
This scholarship is designed to assist association professionals and association business service professionals whose employing associations or companies cannot afford to cover the full cost of participating in an Associations North seminars, conferences or conventions.The scholarship program has been developed to achieve a number of objectives:
- To provide association and business service professionals with on-going continuing education opportunities.
- To assist association or companies who cannot, for whatever reason, provide the registration fees for Associations North events.
- To enhance the knowledge of association and business service employees as they, in-turn will contribute to the association community as a whole.
Scholarships will be awarded for Associations North educational sessions, symposiums and conferences.
In order to be eligible to receive a scholarship:
- You must be a member of Associations North for at least one year.
- You must be employed full-time in a trade or professional association, or a business service that caters to associations.
- Your association is unable to cover the continuing education session fee (no documentation required).
- You must not have received a scholarship in the previous year.
- The topic must be relevant to applicant's occupation. Applicants are responsible for their own travel expenses. Scholarships will be awarded on an individual basis rather than on a company or association basis.
Application should be completed at least three weeks prior to event.
Responsibilities of Recipients
Scholarship recipients must attend the full program on the date and location specified in their application. If this is not possible, applicant must re-apply for a future session. Scholarships are not transferable to another individual. Scholarship recipient must provide a written recap highlighting the benefits of the session for possible inclusion in Focus North.
Associations North is proud to partner with Institute for Organization Management, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s professional development program for non-profit executives, and offer two $500 partial tuition scholarships to one of Institute’s 2018 sites. The two scholarships, available to our members, will be awarded to students attending Institute for the first time to assist with enrollment fees and cannot be combined with any other Institute scholarships.
For over 95 years, Institute has educated association, chamber, and other nonprofit leaders across the country through its national program, highly rated curriculum and high caliber instructors. Thousands of executives have attended Institute sites across the country to strengthen their management skills, learn industry best practices, and gain a broad national perspective from peers. Institute has helped them build stronger organizations, become stronger business advocates and better serve their members. In addition, you will earn points towards your CCE or CAE certification as Institute’s curriculum is directly tied to the bodies of knowledge of both the American Society of Association Executives and the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
Upon completion of the Institute program, graduates receive the IOM recognition which allows them to use the letters “IOM” in public mention and professional correspondence. The IOM recognition signifies the completion of 96 hours of course instruction in nonprofit management and commitment to the industry.

diversity & inclusion (D&I) scholarship
Associations North will encourage diverse individuals to become involved in Associations North and the association management profession.
Applicants must be a member of a racial/ethnic minority or under-represented group who is employed full time at a 501c6 or 501c3 organization. Applicants or their organization must be a member of Associations North.
Scholarships will be awarded to Associations North signature events; Leadership Conference, Holiday Celebration and Annual Meeting and Expo. A total of 15 individual/event scholarships are available. (Limited to 3 for one person in a calendar year.)
Scholarships will be awarded on an individual basis (versus a company basis). However; only one individual from an organization in any calendar year.
Applications should be completed at least four weeks prior to any event or session.
